Pours gold into a snifter. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Dusty lemon and sage funk aromas. Sharp with sage and lemon front to back. Lasting lemon meringue finish.

Bottle at home. Not the prettiest pour hazy brownish orange. Nose is herbaceous and medicinal. Tastes of lots of sage, hibiscus, lavender, other herbs, plenty of Brett, and some yogurt. Lively palate.

The beer is a yellow pale gold and quite cloudy. Medium white head. Not much lacing. Lots of fresh spice in the aroma. Big on sage with other more floral flavors. Kinda perfumey and a bit too sweet. Some fruitiness. There’s a nice funky saison flavor underneath the spice. I just wish it was a bit less overshadowed by the herbal character. Herbal and bitter on the palate. Light, mildly creamy body. Seems like a well made beer. Vegetal note to it. It just tastes like they used a whole lot of fresh herbs. Mild citrus flavor with some other sweet fruitiness. Some brett comes out, but again, it really gets overshadowed by the herbs for me. I keep harping on that point, but it’s because I think that the base is probably excellent. It’s just too much got piled on top of that base.

Bottle @ gmellison. Thanks to Luke for sending. Pours a cloudy yellow orange appearance with a tan head. The aroma is a bit salty and perfumey. Lots of green herbs and flowers. A bit tart. Tangerine candy forward flavor. A little bit funky. Strange beer. Ok.

From the August 2014 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark golden color with a huge foamy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was Pez, tart citrus, chalk, pineapple, sugar and salt. The flavor was malty and bready with notes of Pez, chalk, tart lemon, orange and salt. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Nicely done.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart lemon zest, lime, pear, apple, coriander, clove, pepper, sage, ginger, lavender, spruce, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, grass, light musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity and solid balance of fruity/earthy yeast, herbal spices, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon zest, lime, pear, apple, coriander, clove, pepper, sage, ginger, lavender, spruce, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy herbal/yeast spiciness and slight tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, lime, pear, apple, coriander, clove, pepper, sage, ginger, lavender, spruce, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good complexity and solid balance of fruity/earthy yeast, herbal spices, and pale malt flavors; with a nice crisp malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice herbal spiced saison. All around good complexity and solid balance of fruity/earthy yeast, herbal spices, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very unique and enjoyable saison, but I think it was a bit too heavy on the herbal spicing overall.

Hazy deep golden with very small white head. Aroma is tart/yeasty, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is tart, herbal, some smoke, and long finish. Lots of flavor, but not for me.
