Thanks to Schultsc for this bomber. Pours very dark brown/black with a few beige bubbles. Aromas of roasted dark malt and plum/raisin. Near full in body. The malt is sufficient to initially suggest cola. Then the fruit comes and goes, leaving a very roasty dark malt flavor. So it’s malt, fruit, spice, malt. Every time. It’s very smooth. There’s a bitterness off setting the malt sweetness, but it may be from the roast rather than hop. The alcohol is very subdued. Certainly suffered no harm from aging.

Dunkelmalziger Antrunk mit hohem Hefanteil, gleichzeitig frisch und hell zwischen den vielen dunkelmalzigen Noten. Dann konzentruert sich das Bier wieder eher auf das dunkle und nun weich röstige Malz, dazu ist eine gewisse Süße unbestreitbar. Süffig, gleichzeitig vollmundig, absolut gelungen. Appearance: Dark brown with a small beige head and no lacing
Aroma: Roasty, raisins and citrus
Taste: Toasted malts, dark fruits and cardboard
Good, maybe past its prime

Clear garnet tinted dark brown body that receives the tan head as it slowly falls into the glass. Brown sugar aroma. Sweet malt flavor which is balanced out by a soft hop bitterness. Full bodied and creamy palate.

Bomber shared by maniac at the 13th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 1/15/11. Pours a clear dark red color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big toffee notes, chocolate, fruity notes, a dark almost molasses like note. The taste is chocolate, toffee, leafy hops, caramel, bitter leafy hops, brown sugar. Medium bodied. Nice.,

Sept 2010: Very dark brown pour with some auburn hues. Small, fluffy beige head. Aroma of yeast, sort of bready, and some sweetness from caramel and faded citrus hops. At first sip I am caught off guard by the chocolate and overall dry roastiness here. Some light florals mixed in with the yeast and cloves. No real sweetness or citrus as the aroma suggested. Earthy and rather dry overall. Interesting.

22oz Bottle at our 10-10-10 tasting. With a huge thanks to Toby for sharing this. Pours out a dark brown topped with a nice tan head. Aroma was of chocolate, rich malts, caramel, spice, and pit fruit. The taste was much as the aroma with the pit fruit and sweetness leading the way.

Aroma: The nose is dark fruit, caramel, spice, and some other malty notes,
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a smaller sized head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor of this one is still pretty good, it has gotten sweet, and has a lot of malts to it
Palate: The body is light-medium, it is a little cloying/sticky, with a short duration
Overall Impression:  I thought this one was still pretty solid. It maybe a little too sweet/cloying, but t works pretty well.

Location: Draft at the Rattle ‘n Hum, 10/8/10

Aroma: Nose is mostly sweet, with a little roast, and a hint of hops
Appearance: This brew has a dark brown pour with a tan head
Flavor: The taste is roasted malt balanced by a bit of fruit, some sweetness, subtle bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, there isn’t a boozy feel here, though it is mildly oxidized
Overall Impression: My Christopher Columbus rating! (1492) This one is to you, guy who accidentally sort of "discovered" 2 continents! Overall, I enjoyed this one. The oxidation doesn’t detract from the beer much, and the flavor works pretty well. I’m glad I got the opportunity to give this one a try. I don’t think it was at its peek here, but still pretty good stuff.
