“Make the long night shorter, Forgetting not, Good stout old English Porter.” — R. H. Messenger

Luscious and silky smooth with a body to match, OP Porter is uncompromisingly rich yet surprisingly drinkable. A complex blend of dark malts and real milk sugar creates the bold flavors of dark roast coffee mingling with farm fresh cream. For the stout and porter lover in each of us, OP is a knockout.

4 oz sampler draft at the brewpub in Boca Raton, Florida. The pour is black brown, slight haze, and a small light tan head. The aroma is cocoa sweet, light char, and some molasses malt. The taste is a blend of cocoa sweet, molasses, and then finishes with the light roast. Nice balance of flavors. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation, and a clean dry mineral finish. Nice Porter.

A deep dark porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a smooth chocolate malt with lightly peated notes, coffee, nice. In mouth, a smooth sweet chocolate with some nice light smoked notes, nice and smooth, some vanilla, well done. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 13 2013.

Bottle shared at CBC - Clerkenwell, London during the 1st Birthday Celebration. Thanks to Ken for this beer. I believe this was a handbottle or growler. Pours rich brown with a foamy, tan head. Some tandy dark malts on the nose. Medium sweet flavor, lightly roasty, with some honey and plenty of tang. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light to medium sweet finish with tangy, lightly roasted malts and a mead-like honey note. If the tang here is intentional, it isn’t great; however, I’m guessing it’s not on purpose - a pity, as this is my first beer from Funky Buddha.

Bottle shared at the Craft. Opaque black - brown beer, little pale bubbly tan head. Light crispy palate. Sweet and sour beer! Sweet lacto contrasts nicely with the tang - which is bordering on sour. These two aspects in a mellow dark malt backdrop that has a trace of roast. Smooth semi dry finish. Nice easy going and interesting porter.

Tap at Funky Buddha. It pours very dark brown, with a tan head. The nose is dark chocolate, roasted malt, rye bread and spice. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, rye bread, bitter chocolate, spice, touch of lactose (but not as much as anticipated) and metal, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. An ok porter, but below average in comparison to their other beers.

Medium-dark brown. The aroma is mostly diacetyl with nuttiness. Harshly astringent, toasty, nutty and full of butter. Gotta take it off tap when it turns.

Draft at Funky Buddha. Brown-black with a rusty beige head. Rich lactic tones, very much in the Caribbean style of Stout. Sweet and milky, a pretty solid example of the style. Rich, sugary chocolate and some faint sour milk notes. Well done.
