Ale | Zweigelt

A cloak of purple and orange drapes the hillsides when Palava sits in the final stretch of the sun's daily path. The first signs of a fall chill are perceptible in the raised hairs of the forearm and perhaps even a breath's condensate.

For this harvest we selected Zweigelt grapes (2023) from Němčičky. This beer fermented on the pomace and aged in neutral oak for two years before bottling.

---------

Bottled 750ml. -Courtesy of Marko, shared with him & Hrabren. Ruby red coloured, small off-white head, grapes and berries in the nose. Fruity, light grapes, light spicy and notes of berries with mild acetic touch. Oak barrel and discreet alcohol also. Quite dry finish.

0.75 l bottle thanks to Marko who brought it from Prague, shared with Ogi and him. Unclear ruby red, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity at first, red grapes, rhubarb, pomegranate, slightly jammy in the back, raspberry. Definitely vinous and slightly acetic. Hints of oak and vanilla. Smooth, light body, soft tartness. Quite tannic, dry. Flavour is red fruit, tobacco, vanilla, black pepper and oak. Slightly thin, creamy, quite vinous. Dry finish. Very wine-like.

0.75l bottle from Lajka, shared with Hrabren and Ogi in Zagreb. Bit hazy ruby body, not much head, traces of a pinkish off-white one. Huge, serious aroma, very nicely expressed red grapes/wine, touch of glue, lightly herbal, well balanced. Smooth, soft, sweetish taste, red grapes/wine again, lightly spicy, no sourness really, oaky barrel touches, somewhat tannic, very well integrated, light glue, lovely really! Juicy, pleasant, very drinkable, huge respect!

Very elegant, thin bodied, med-light elegant barn funk combining well with the fruity red berryish red grapes, slightly cavernety. Med sour, smooth, med-light tart. Very good.
