This is where barleywine stops following the rules. Munichwine.
Take the maltiest of all the malty beers, barleywine and brew it with the maltiest of all malty malts: Munich Malt (Three different varieties, to be exact). That's how you make a Munichwine.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours rather opaque dark brown with a slight, transient tan smear/head. Aroma is quite malty in a dark German way. Full in body. It's not dry. It's somewhat bitter along with heat to balance the malt. The flavor is like a toffee with some floral/grass notes. It's very subtle, and I seem to lack parsing ability here. It's just really, really good ale.
