Each year we fly to the Pacific Northwest to select the hop lots we will use in our beers in the upcoming year. We run into many industry friends, new and old, during this annual journey. This year we selected our Citra from Loftus Ranches, as did some of our favorite breweries around the country. We each select with a specific aroma and oil content ranges in mind, which leads to variations in the Citra expression each of us gets in the final beers.

We came together with Russian River, Creature Comforts, and Bale Breaker to combine our Citra selections into one single-hop Hazy IPA to find out how the aromatics of each selection integrate with each other. The end result is a lofty expression of the almighty Citra hop.

Draft at John & Peter's Place in New Hope, PA. while watching a performance by Hubbell Benson. Number one with a bullet. Hazy orange gold pour with a scant white head that dissipates quickly. Big citrusy hop aroma, as expected. Flavor is soft and juicy. Hints of tropical citrus upfront. Nice bready malt backbone supports the lush citrus hop bill. Very quaffable, to say the least. Well done!
