In the autumn of 1826, when the first frost blackened the hops beyond Plzeň, the Reaping Ravens came.
They appeared without warning above the great breweries along the Radbuza River. Their wings were the colour of wet slate, their beaks curved like scythes forged in Hell. Every night a silent host of at least thirteen birds descended, perching on brewery roofs, church spires and malt-house eaves. Their eyes, twin glowing coals, watched the men laboring below.
At first the brewers laughed and threw stones. But laughter died at dawn when old Vojtěch, the head cooper, was found sprawled beside an open fermenting vat. His throat had been slit with surgical precision, yet not a drop of blood remained. The black ichor that once flowed in his veins had been drained away, leaving the corpse pale as new parchment. In his dead hands he still clutched an empty, foaming tankard.
Night after night the horror repeated: a maltster here, a cooper there, a boastful tapster. Always the same—throat opened cleanly, blood vanished as if lapped by invisible tongues, and beside each body an upturned mug drunk to the last bitter drop.
Soon the taverns emptied. Men crossed themselves before raising a glass, whispering that the ravens thirsted not for flesh but for the very soul of Bohemia’s golden brew.
By winter’s end the breweries stood silent, fires cold and barrels untouched. High above the frozen city, the Reaping Ravens waited—patient, black and inexorable—until spring promised new wort and new terror.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours golden, scarcely transparent, with fine white foam. Aroma is herbal and floral, a little honey. Body is fairly dense, while carbonation is average. Taste is medium-high bitter, with some decent sweet base. Final is fairly long and still bitter.

0.44l can. Aroma of passion fruit, flowers, grass and pine. Pours cloudy golden color with thin creamy off-white head and average visible carbonation. Taste starts juicy tropical fruity and resinous, following is herbal and medicinal, mouthfeel is smooth with dry and bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Clean Aussie freshness…
