I found my notes from visiting this brewery during my honeymoon in 7/2003. Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a black color with a brown head. The aroma was dry, bitter and roasty. The flavor was bitter, dry and roasty. Not my style

Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours nearly black with a thin beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Touches of hops are present too. The finish is roasty with chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

on tap-pours a brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/licorice/some coffee. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/licorice/some coffee, some faint hops. Comes across more as an Irish Stout to me. Not my style. Mild/minimum carbonation.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color. Aroma of roasted malt. Thin mouthfeel, flavor based on roasted malt with some caramel. Too much bitter.
