OPA was originally brewed in 1998 at O’Hooleys, the site of Jackie O’s original brewpub location. Over the years OPA has changed and evolved just like Jackie O’s Brewery and the greater beer scene. Ohio Pale Ale has a bright nose of grapefruit, geraniums, and pine. Raise a can to the OG southeastern Ohio hoppy beer, OPA!

Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange color with a medium sized frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of butter notes and leafy hops. The taste is earthy hops, butter, caramel and a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Too much butter... hopefully this is a bad batch.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a lightly hazed pale orange color and has a thin light beige head that diminishes steadily. Top sticky ring of lacing with short strings underneath. Floral hops aroma with notes of malt in the background. Medium body with flavors of floral hops and earthy malt, plus a touch of fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Above average overall.
