North High has finally released their Filthy Imperial Stout for the season! A revised and updated recipe on our famous Filthy McNasty Russian imperial, this 8% brew hits all the right stout notes and is more roasty, chocolatey, and yet, still a little boozy!

2$ can from chalet. I guess this is an updated recipe on the old McNasty? Pour is big black, large and in charge. Very nice performance on the pour with its choco moose head. Nose is somewhat boozy with hints of sweeter malts. Dark bitter baker chocolate is forward on the first taste. After the swig, the slightly bitter burnt old damp campfire wood feeling starts to set in. Yes, it is a little boozy, makes no bones about it. As I recall, this seems to be more behaved with manners, compare to the old McNasty. Quite an impact, yet still retains some basic stout aspects without losing itself in the imperial style. Towards the finish, bitter dark chocolate is really laying in and overtakes the ending. Not bad, but as with most of the imperial stouts, I find it difficult at times. I bet aging would help this a little. Certainly not as good as the best impy stout I ever tasted; DFH World Wide Stout 2002 (23% ABV), but maybe not quite there, with the enjoy-ability factor with the other imoy stouts I'ver rated like Brewkeeper Mad Brewer Black Storm, Two Brothers Northwind Imperial or even East End Toaster. Still, not as bad as most impy stouts I've prosecuted.
