This porter draws on rich roasted malts and subtle smoky tones to evoke the ambience of a bygone industrial era. Smoky Chimney offers a deep chocolate hue, aromas of coffee and dark caramel and a warming savoury finish underscored by gentle peat-like smoke

A bottle purchased online from Beers of Europe and drunk at Dad’s while home on holiday (n.b. this review is for ‘Smoky Chimney' [6.0%], not 'Smoky Black' [6.0%.]) Aroma: it smells like a regular well-malted porter. Appearance: clear cola, one finger tan head. Palate: medium-bodied and rather oily, average carbonation; strong malty aftertaste. Taste: lightly sweet, the malty flavour is rather astringent. There is a barely discernible smoked taste, but ‘Smoky Chimney’ is pushing it a bit. Otherwise, an unremarkable porter.
