On tap at Stiefel Pub Otoya, pours a deep dark burgundy with a small beige head. Aroma is rather malty, almost syrupy, hinting at an IPA that unbalanced to the malt—there’s some hop resins in there, but they’re faint. Flavour confirms this impression; there’s resinous hops, as well as some nice bitterness, but the syrupy malts then overwhelm. The balance is off, and this is not that easy to drink. Laudable attempt but needs lots of work.
