What kind of beer do you make when it seems that every beer you reach for on the shelf has a crazy amount of hops? You attempt to make something the complete opposite! Tons of malt? Check. High alcohol content? Check. Looking at our checklist, only one beer came to mind: Scottish Ale. For us, Aftermath is a beer for the Aftermath. Aftermath of a long work day. Aftermath of an off day at the softball field (which, for our skill level, is every game). Aftermath of sitting in traffic for far too long and always picking the wrong lane. Sit back. Relax. Enjoy the Aftermath that is made perfectly for your Aftermath.

Bottle during RBWG Booze Buse 20/02/15 thanks to whomever supplied this juan. Chestnut brown with a moderate off white covering. Nose is nutty, toffee, spice, rich malt, light vanilla. Taste comprises toffee, sweet candified licks, malt base, biscuit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style, masks ABV but also lacks depth when you consider it’s a double digit number!

12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin off white head. The aroma offers up modest notes of brown sugar and raisiny dates. The taste delivers slick sweet malts, brown sugar, figs and sweet raisins. It does pull up mild earthy, pumpernickel and mineral notes midway and into the finish. Well hidden abv.

Mild treacle and currant nose. Clear ruby brown, enormous tan head. I totally misjudged the pour and it overflowed a bit. Medium body, warm. Currant and plum on a malty, cereal base. Well rounded, balanced, and multi-dimensional. More fruity than most scottish/scotch ales, but that isn’t so bad. A couple bombers of this tasty brew will set you right.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a bottle. Pours a hazy dark brownish-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, fruit and caramel. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, roasted nuts and dark fruit. The finish is sweet with a lingering earthy malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
