A dear friend, Jamie, who owns a small jewelry company called Wanderlust Moon, recently shared a photo of herself and her husband on a dock in Fiji. Kacie was immediately inspired to paint it as a birthday gift for Jamie—with, of course, the addition of Jamie’s sweet dog to complete the family.
This type of painting requires a certain letting go: dropping watercolor onto wet paper in different saturations and then stopping—pulling back the brush and the impulse to over-direct the paint—and allowing the pigment and water to work their magic.
Travel can be like that—to plan, to bring all the ingredients together, and then to let the magic of wandering do its thing.
