Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, light copper colour. Bubbly, white head, that doesn’t stick around. Light, savoury smoke. Some wood smoke. Grainy malts. Light, grassy hop. Taste is sugary sweet. Light dry. Some slightly jarring bitterness. Palate is a bit greasy. Finishes a bit flabby, and ashy dry. Starts out great, but goes a bit downhill.

Bottle at The Bottle Shop. Gold white head. Mild smoke more cigarette medicinal. Not my favourite smoked. Ok though.

Bottle from Good Taste, Crystal Palace. It pours clear pale gold with a small white head. The nose is sweet, smokey, grainy, ham and smoked sausage. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, smoked meats, grainy, pepper and some orange action with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. A bit sweet I suppose. OK smoked action, but far from my favourite.

330ml bottle. Barely clear, orangey golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Relatively mild, smoky aroma, hints of bacon, smoked sausage etc., almost more herbal than woody. Taste is smoky, minimally tart, a touch of peat. Too light, weak and unbalanced, lacks some malt support from sweeter regions.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Hazy gold - amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth. Tangy dried fruits, some obvious orange zip. Mild smoke runs throughout and never gets acrid. Light semi dry finish. Not bad at all.

A little crisper and fresher tasting in the bottle but otherwise the same.
