We were inspired for this special, cloudy abbey beer by how the monks of old used to brew small amounts of beer for their own consumption. After all, the Fathers are entitled to a tasty glass of beer to quench their thirst too. But aware of their obligations as they were, they created a version with less alcohol. This allowed their minds to stay clear for work and prayer. Fortunately, the lower alcohol content had no effect on the characteristic abbey beer flavour.

Bouteille(@Monaco di Bavaria): Golden, hazy, medium-sized rocky white head; yeasty-fruity nose, some grains and some herbal hops underneath; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a slight tartness; lingering yeasty-bitter finish, fruits detectable, illusions of warming alcohol in the aftertaste. A beer of decent quality, less or more…

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and firm medium-sized foamy head. Mildly citric, slightly herbal and delicately floral hoppy aroma with Belgian yeasty spice. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a lively carbonation. Initially moderately sweet malty, yeasty taste with drying hops character getting stronger towards the finish, including herbal, delicately floral and fruity accents. Nice. 17.II.16

25/IV/15 - 33cl bottle @ Zythos Bierfestival 2015 (Leuven) - BB: 8/III/17 (2015-1700) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing today's beers!

Note: discovered recently that I forgot to input this one. Luckily I keep al my notebooks and I remembered I had it at Zythos! :)
Little hazy blond beer, creamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: very yeasty, quite some banana, bit sweet. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: metallic start, pretty bitter, yeast, some banana. Aftertaste: yeast, grassy hops, little sourish, bitter finish. Not too bad, actually!
