Armand’4 Herfst Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. He’s in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each season’s geuze has an unique and different blend.

Bottle at RBNAG-11. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is sourness, wood, apple, fruit, acidic, funk. Flavour is sour, wood, apple, fruit, acidic, funk. Nice beer.

Bottle. Pours orange, with a touch of red, and a big white head. Aroma has got notes of currant seeds, green apples and mild herbs. Taste has got notes of green apples, lime and a tart finish that reminds me of red currant seeds. Very refreshing. Altough not the most complex geuze.

Deep hazy orange-amber color, good creamy off-white head. Tart fruity aroma with leather, grapefruit, overriped peach and citrus. Medium-bodied. Sharp tartness, fruity astrigent flavor. Some wood and leather, citrus and grass. This is tart but perhaps softier than spring and summer version.

Bottled (from bierkompass.de). Rather lively for a lambic, Hazy orangeish golden colour with a huge fluffy off-white head. Aroma is rich tart wooden and fruity notes with some slight notes of farmyard. Flavour is earthy, farmyardy, fruity and wooden tartness as well as mild yeastyness. Quite mellow, yet dry and tart.

Bottle 750ml. [ As my rating # 24000 on ratebeer ]. Unclear matt medium orange colour with a average to large, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy barnyard, leather, horse blanket, wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a long duration, grapefruit, wood, barnyard, lemon peel. LOVELY ;O) Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120127]

750mL bottle shared by Bobby_Digital. I guess we got screwed with the bad bottle. Right away we could tell something is off. Its not as easy to tell at first but that is what diacetyl in a lambic tastes like. The flavor is sourness and acidity cutting through the diacetyl. So, if one had to drink diacetyl it would be best to do it with some lambic mixed in there. Eh, but it still sucked not to mention the price tag.

750 ml bottle @ RBNAG-11. Hazy orange body with a big off-white head. Aroma is fruity and quite acidic with barnyard. Feels a bit more raw than Lente and Zomer. Flavor is funky, tart, fruity and acidic like Lente and Zomer, I can’t really put the finger on the difference, but I found the Lente and Zomer just a bit more pleasant.

Bottle thanks to errantnight. Gusher. Hazed golden hue with a large and mostly lasting white head with really good lace. Aromas are very complex. Lots of pineapple and tropical fruit sort of Brett A or C character. Lots of great funk, and lemony acidity. Horse-blanket, sandalwood, straw, hay grass, light white wine. Great complexity. Flavors show a huge acidity, straw notes, fresh cut grass, floral, pineapple and a very complex funk. Insanely good. And a very mild tannin (from memory, it seems less than others of this series). Very lively, mouth filling carbonation (probably a bit too much). Dry. Mouthpuckering. Great! Surprisingly this might be my favorite of the Armand series!

Big thanks to Dak, Dave and Norm for this one. Fancy 750mL bottle pours near clear gold with off white head. The aroma offers up tartness, a tart raspberry like note, tart and near vibrant crushed aspirin and followed by some depth created by a lemon to lime like sensation. The taste is pretty much the same where the whole experience is more tart and acidic and crushed aspirin than anything else.
