Armand’4 Herfst Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. He’s in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each season’s geuze has an unique and different blend.

Gushing to dirty, foxy, yeast-ridden head over fully muddy foxy orange beer. Fruity Brettanomyces aromas detectable from meters away, with medlars (apt for "Herfst"), unripe white muscatgrapes, lemon, quinces; wheat and other grains, aromes vivifiants. Very sour indeed, until the finish, where again the wheat shows, and generally a mellow, lactic and fruity (kiwifruit, lemons, medlars) acidity, Very spritzy, sharp, acidburn, and refreshing as none. Probably one of the best gueuzes in years. Bottle NOT shared!

0.75l bottle @ RBNAG11. Pours a clouded orange body with a massive lasting and light fluffy lasting white head. The aroma is woody, some lemon-sourness, grape, some barn and grapefruit. Lively to aggressive carbonation oily. Flavors are strong and lemon-sour, leafs, wood and grapefruit-juice. Ends light dry. Good stuff and thank's for sharing!

Shared bottle, RBNAG 2011. Again: hard to distinguish from the Lente and Zomer (which we had just minutes before), but Herfst is even more sour and lemony than Zomer, in both aroma and flavour.

Ceiling cork. Gusher. Muddy tan color, massive tan ice cream cone head with amazing retention and thick, clingy lacing. Aroma of autumn. I’m not kidding, it has scents of dried leaves, light spice, apples and cinnamon, and hay bales. Taste starts malty, then spice, then bitterness and soft sourness. Good stuff!

2025 review. Murky dull. Thin head. Bright brett and citrus, a lot of leather. Lean, some sweetness remains. Earthy, leather, but still bright citrus. Very good.
2011 review.
Cloudy amber. Head on this one is glass-dependent, so choose wisely. The aroma is spicy, lightly cheesy and even a little bit malty. Sweet front, followed by lactic sourness. A simple palate, with almost crackerlike malty notes. Good gueuze, but odd. 8 7 8 8 7.5 =7.6
