pours very very VERY dark brown, settles black with a brown head that fizzes away in a minute as BA heads often do.Aroma is a lot of roasted malts, some coffee, strong wood and charred wood notes, alcohol note that mixes in with a dried dark fruity note. borderline phenolic, but not entirely there. super solid BA imp stout aroma but a bit too boozy, alc. a bit too easily detectable.
flavor is roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, licorice, chocolate, charred wood.aftertaste is lots of roasted malts, some coffee bitterness too, bit of licorice, aftertaste lasts a long time.
even though they used lactose and dextrose - the flavor is mainly just plain super heavt imp stout. the roasted malts and the wood drive the flavor. the other stuff distracts a bit, but the base beer can take it. Tasty sipper.
