Tap at the brewpub. Pours slightly ruddy copper with a large beige head. Aroma is moderately dark/sweet malt with mixed hop. Flavor is malty, with mixed hop and some definite wood notes. Sort of a roasty barley wine; sort of a malty DIPA. Not a trace of heat for me. Went down quite a treat. A little bit warming. There’s enough bitter to nicely balance the malt.

Draft pour at the Collective Hop Mob. Pours a dark copper color with a foam head and lacing. Very mild aroma of fruit. Flavor is straw like, grassy hops, and a sturdy fruit background. Fun beer here.

Bomber pours clear deep gold with three inch near rocky off white head, uh oh. The aroma is sort of dusty with a bit of yeast as well as spicy hops and vague bitterness, soapy notes and almost a spicy wood sensation. The taste is similar with bitterness and sharp spiciness and also soapy notes mixing with acidity. It seems the condition of this bottle isn’t pristine. I hate the way these big box bottle shops store all the IPA and Pales at room temperature and bathed in UV lighting (purchased at Total Wine in Tempe). Need to re-rate a fresh bottle from a better bottle shop.

Sampled on tap at SIB, pours hazy caramel with a white head. Aroma of herbals hops, marijuana and citrus. Flavour is quite spicy (cinnamon, nutmeg), a little sweet chocolate (?!), herbal hops and citrus. Well-rounded but lacking depth / uniqueness.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this growler that he got in a recent trade. Deep amber/light brown pour with huge, long-lasting off-white head. Grassy aroma. Malty sweetness, low hop flavor and bitterness. This says American Strong Ale to me. It lacks the hop presence of an Imperial IPA, yet doesn’t take it all the way into Barleywine country either.
