Even in 1895 Porter was brewed from the mountain spring in Löbau, and it was a beloved drink in the Lausitz. With our Lausitzer Porter, we successfully continue this brewing tradition.

* Old rating, 0,5l crown-top bottle, best before 06.07.04. Malzig-süßes Bier. Dunkel und klebrig. Der zugefügte Zucker macht sich deutlich bemerkbar, süß-klebrig-malziger Nachgeschmack.

Dark brown color, small frothy beige head, recedes quickly, no layer, light lacing. Sweet malty aroma, brown sugar, caramel, cola, basement. Taste heavy sweet, sticky. Medium body, thin texture, sticky mouthfeel, soft carbonation, sugary sweetness in the finish. Imho not a porter nor a schwarzes but a malzbier.

Bottle from a shop in Prenzler Berg. Pours a rather light brown, almost a dark orange. Slight beige head. Aoma is dark malt, in a light way, and I am thinking/imagining a little chocolate. Med body. Flavor is sweet med med dark malt. Might be some hop. Seems to have an attempt at a balancing bitter in the finish. Not one of the tastiest schwarzes.

Bottle at Aufsturz, Berlin, September 2014. Brownish/read with a small head. Very sweet and thin with sugar, some fruit and nuts. It was hard to finish the bottle.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Tom L. Clear deep reddish amber. Aroma of a bit of malt, caramel and toasty hint. Unpleasant sickly sweet flavor, sugary and caramelly. Quite light-bodied. Bad. And not a porter in any way.

Dark brown, watery appearance. Tiny, white head. Aroma of very sweet malt. Taste the same, sugary, like fruit juice. "Porter" is misleading.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 at mR_fr0g’s. Didn’t make much in the way of tasting notes on this, just pure sweetness. Closer to root beer than porter, I’m not sure if this is some acquired taste that no one in the UK has, but this isn’t for me at all... yuck!
