Tap at Sweenys Bar, Dublin. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a long-lasting frothy white head. The aroma is light grainy malt. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light crisp watery light fruit, metallic hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Draught at several in County Sligo. An incredibly drinkable ale and one eh at has enough taste to back it up. A strange Guinness-esque foam when poured. Can be tinny after other more powerful beers. One to go the distance, my Irish Doombar. So here we are to re rate Smithwicks. Honestly one of the most tasteless beers I’ve ever drunk and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It is very nice and easy to drink but honestly has so little taste, supremely smooth though.

Draught. (backlog) Deep amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some toffee, mild wood as well as some herbal notes. Flavour is sweet malts, mild grains as well as some slight floral and wooden notes in the finish. Smooth, but nothing to really write home about.

Draft at Poteen Still, The Hague. Hazy dark amber with with a cream head. Aroma of malt, breadth notes, light red fruits, caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

*On tap in Ireland. Nice fresh and smooth beginning. Hints of caramel, grain. Nice balanced, round and fresh, not too deep but round and sessionable. Nice one.

Bottle pour into tulip glass from Cigarette City. Aroma is dominant caramel with earth and dark fruits with red wine quality. Appearance is clear dark reddish amber with trace sparkle, finger-width foamy off-white head with fair retention and fair leggy lacing. Taste is as aroma with strong caramel but also light bitter from Noble hops. Palate is medium bodied, average-to-lively carbonation with slight numbing to lips; finish is crisp and abrupt. Overall, a pretty straightforward beer without a lot of nuance outside the aroma.

Dark honey amber colour, medium creamy off white head. Toasted malt and caramel aroma. Some sweetness, malt and caramel but a bit thin.
