Great slightly hazy darker amber colour with a very thin white head that fades away quickly. Regardless, a nice looking beer. Strong aroma packs a powerful malt, hop, nutty and definate astringent aroma. Medium-bodied; Good balance of hops & malt in the taste with both flavours fading off into nothing pretty quickly. Aftertaste a bit bittered from the hops and a bit shallow from the emptiness the taste left behind. Overall, a decent Amber, and one that is quite a bit different than the norm, so it scores decent marks! I got this twelve ounce bottle today (i've got to drink it fresh!) from Matt A. (Mabdoney) in Florida! Thanks again Matt :-)

Bright copper-amber. Light caramel nose with baby diaper pedio infection. Crackery, some caramel. Dryish finish with a light, woody hop note and more caramel. I look at those 7 year old notes and damn what happened, now it’s boring and has pediococcus. D’oh.

Original rating (2002)
Amber colour, chill haze, thin head. Aroma brings Dad’s Oatmeal cookies, speyside whisky, candied peaches. Stronger than expected flavour, as the whisky connotations continue. Bread crusts, slightly oxidized hops, earth and faint molasses are also present. Earthy, lightly peaty finish. Long for an amber ale. 7-3-7-3-13 = 3.3
