Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel and plum aroma with hints of dark fruit. Sweetish malty spicy dark fruit and plum flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty dark fruit and plum finish.

Split a bottle. Poured a dark reddish ruby color with a off-white head. Aroma was some yeast notes, plenty of dried fruit notes, and a touch of vanilla notes. Flavor was yeast character, fruit characters, touch of vanilla. Pretty darn good.

Pours dark brown - sort of a maroon-tinted mahogany - but light enough for color to be seen throughout and the beer is transparent even in a full (small) glass. Head is thin layer of fine beige bubbles. The aroma has lots of sweet malt and dark fruit notes. Lots of raisins, prunes, plums and other fruitiness. If I didn’t know there were plums added, I probably would think this is just a normal quad with particularly deep fruit notes. It smells like a raisin bread pudding. Lots of doughy, bready malt with caramel, molasses, treacle and sweet booze. Very nice spice, as well. Taste starts sweet and builds in complexity and spice. The fruit comes through with a bit of tannic bitterness. Makes me think of macerated plum skin. Most of the sweetness is caramel and other doughy, toasty malt notes. The finish is a bit boozy, but there’s a lot of nice lingering flavor. The mouthfeel is fine and gentle. It does get a tad sticky as the beer warms and some of the carbonation comes out of the beer. Hard to avoid that. Still, it coats the mouth nicely and that light bitter note keeps the beer from getting cloying. Overall, I’m impressed by this beer. With their fancier offerings, Sierra Nevada shows off a mastery of restraint. When it comes to adding fruit (and barrel-aging), breweries tend to go overboard. This beer uses plums to enhance its flavor, and the beer, rather than the plums, remains the star of the show.

Bottle. Very deep brown near black hued pour with a retentive off white head, good lace. Aroma has moderate styrofoam, strong plums, deeply malty, cola, alcohol, chocolate, prunes raisins. Tobacco, quite deep. Flavors are abit too sweet with alcohol, licorice, brown sugar, plums and vanilla. Low chocolate, boozy, figs, some rich malt. Lively carb, warming, good, but not supremely interesting nor good.

Pours clear cola brown color with tan head. Aromas of plums, raisins, candi sugar and Belgian yeast. Sweet plum and raisin flavor and candi sugar. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation.

From a corked and caged bottle shared with Westchesterco and Ryan. Pours a cloudy cola brown with an off white head. Aroma of raisins and dark fruits. Flavors include some chocolate, caramel, raisin and plum. Quite nice.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a dark cream head. Dried fruit and yeast aroma with earthiness. Dried fruit and malt flavor with yeast and spice. Medium bodied. Dried fruit and dark fruit lingers with spice, yeast, and malt.

Good quad. Something throws it off though

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is candy sugar raisin and plums. Medium mouthfeel with yeast brown sugar and light plum flavor. Alcohol present but not overpowering. A good quad from Sierra Nevada.
