Narragansett Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, and the best selling beer in New England from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. It has crossed paths with Dr. Seuss, it was famously crushed by Captain Quint in Jaws, and it was the first alcoholic beverage to partner with a professional sports team – the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975. Drinking a Lager is drinking to New England history. Hi Neighbor! Have a ‘Gansett!

Tap at Gambrinus. Pours a clear gold. Faint honey nose with some grain. Clean and crisp lager. Touch of peppery bite on the finish. Not awful by any means. --- Beer merged from original tick of Lager on 20 Mar 2017 at 19:50 - Score: 6. Original review text: Faint honey and grain aromas. clean and crisp. Tough of peppery hops on the finish. Really, pretty decent.

Bottle from Total Wine, Miami Beach. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of corn, syrup and potato. Fairly sweet, minimal bitterness. Light body, oily texture, average carbonation. First Rhode Island state tick, but not a particularly good beer.

Draft at Regina’s Pizzeria, Boston, MA. Straw color, and clear with a small white head. Not much aroma - maybe some corn and light malt. Taste is lager-like, but also is a bit strange: maybe some ginger or cream soda? Weird.

$1.35 Pint can from Wine Warehouse. Pours clear golden with a large off-white head. Slightly sweet aroma, possibly grassy, but not discernible. Taste is actually not too bad for a lager. Plain, sure, but does not taste like some of its cheap counterparts. A bit thin in the mouth.

Clear medium golden colour, small frothy white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma sweet malts, sweet corn, muscat grapes, grass. Light flavour, medium sweet and slightly bitter, malty, light fruity. Mild sweetbitter finish with light spicy notes. Medium body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation, pleasant smooth lager, quite nice (for an American lager).

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a large creamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy with perfume and artificial grape. The flavor was tangy and sweet with artificial grape and perfume. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good but better than I expected.
