Narragansett Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, and the best selling beer in New England from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. It has crossed paths with Dr. Seuss, it was famously crushed by Captain Quint in Jaws, and it was the first alcoholic beverage to partner with a professional sports team – the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975. Drinking a Lager is drinking to New England history. Hi Neighbor! Have a ‘Gansett!

21.06.2013, tap @ Stoddard’s Fine Food & Ale:
Small shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sour-ish, light malts, wet hay, grass, berries. Taste is slightly sweet, light malts, cereal, caramel, hay, cereal. Little bitterness. Just another boring lager.

On draft at the Big Hunt in DC. Pours a clear gold with an off white head Feint cereal nose. Flavors of peach. Mellow mouthfeel. Short slightly bitter finish. Not bad for the style.

Enjoyed on tap at Improv Asylum in Boston, MA after eating some great lobster rolls. This just wasn't very good, bland lager with very light crispness.

Draft. Clear pale yellow color, small whitebhead. Aroma of lager. Taste is very lager-like, but more watery.

Straight from a 16oz can. Presumably would pour a pale yellow lager color, with what I imagine is a white head. Well, from the can, I can get some grassy, pale malt flavors. Flavor is traditional cheap lager flavors - weak malts, lager yeast, grassy notes.

16oz can poured into a shaker. From bytemesis for Secret Santa 2012. Thanks! Pours a clear dark gold with a half finger of quickly fading head. Aroma of corn and grains with a little spice and some green apples. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Some caramel corn with spicy hops and a little sour green apple. Light bodied with a somewhat thin yet creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a pretty long finish. Overall, pretty darn good. Probably one of my new favorite pale lagers.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear light gold with small white head. Some lacing, light body, low carbonation, and very light malt. Taste is pilsner malt and finishes crisp hops. One of the best pale lagers I have had.
