Narragansett Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, and the best selling beer in New England from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. It has crossed paths with Dr. Seuss, it was famously crushed by Captain Quint in Jaws, and it was the first alcoholic beverage to partner with a professional sports team – the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975. Drinking a Lager is drinking to New England history. Hi Neighbor! Have a ‘Gansett!

Location: Draft a Surf City, 8/31/12
Aroma: It has a nose of lager yeast, citrus, grass, and a little hay
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a small bubbly white head
Flavor: It has a fairly simple malt flavor, lightly sweet and not much else
Palate: The body of this beer is light, it is drinkable enough, with a soft, smooth feel
Overall Impression: For a boring lager, this one isn't bad, but there isn't much exciting here. I would certainly not go out of my way for it, but if it was this vs. some generic macro lager, this one won win in a landslide.

sweet kiss of honey which immediately sets it apart from most adjuncts. The lager flavor is pretty strong as well

16 oz. can from my Buddy Brian. OK, let’s face it; this is a lager. You’re not going to get too much here. Nearly no aroma, Maybe light malt. Typical lager. Light corn flavors. Went down easy. This is in no way bad. And the price is awesome. If you like lagers, this should not offend you.

Ya know what, this is a pretty good lager. Exactly what you’d expect, but with a little more flavor than normal, shows at least a little bit of care and love in the brewing, not just a macro.

Can from Half Time. Labled "Official Beer of the Clam". Poor clams. Pours gold with a 2 finger foamy white head. Very bready aroma with a hint of grass. Flavor is bready. 12 IBUs might be stretching it. Clean tho, and arguably a little refreshing. Not sorry to have tried it.

Pours gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Sweet corn and citrus aromas. Crisp with sweet hay and mild citrus hops upfront turning slightly sour grass in the lasting macro finish.

Pale gold with a quickly vanishing white head. Light grain and sugar in the aroma. Same in flavor and very light on flavor but does have just a hint of hop finish. Carbed ligke a macro lager. Comes across as a high brow college drinking game lager. Still, better tham BMC and in the right circumstance (beer pong) it could be immensly drinkable.

From tap at Jacob Wirth as Jakes House Lager Narragansett. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is citrusy and hops fruity. Grassy, slight hayish and mild yeasty. Bitter and slight citrusy finish.
