Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark brown very close to black with a healthy looking two finger off white foamy head which dissipated slowly to leave some coated lace
Aroma: some black licorice/anise spice to sweet sort of qualities up front with a mild earthy to roasty to semi-bitter sort of tone and a speck of rye sweetness in there underneath
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a refined sweet to roasty and ever so slight spicy to underscored bitterness just rolling through each aspect ever so nicely. Finishes kinda cocoa-ish with some anise/black licorice and an ever so slight dryness that's just so evenly dispersed (super hard to pick up that dryness)
Texture: light to medium bodied - maybe just a wee touch closer to medium; slightly sessionable; great smoothness and good level of carb
Overall: man oh man - what a porter and I'm not super huge into having this style this time of year but this is definitely one to return to this Autumn. Keep this one going, Lost Nation, please!
