Strong aroma of pine. Cola brown, thin tan head. Dark roasted malt and pine. Fizzy with a charred oak finish. Nicely rustic and woody. The hop varieties used go very well with the roasted malts. Great camping beer!

12 ounce bottle from Downtown Wine & Gourmet, Harrisonburg, VA, opened 1/10/11. Pours a dark brown color with a medium light brown creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, nutty notes and earthy bitter hops. The taste is citrus hops, caramel, lightly roasted malts. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Bottle. Body is almost black with a thin beige head. Aromas are reminiscent of a little chocolate mixed into that flowery smelling soap that your crazy aunt always had in her wallpapered bathroom you used when you visited her house on holidays. As it warms a bit, a light pine aroma helps diminish my dismay at the flowery mess and the chocolate picks up steam as well. Still, my hopes are that this is the true nature of the beast, not that god-awful first impression. Flavor is a revelation and my prayers have been answered. Chocolate and slightly stinging pine and resin dominate, with just a bit of aunt Millie’s soap at the very end, but you can chose to almost completely ignore it if you want. It still comes across as a bit washed out at times, but this is pretty decent stuff and I would gladly have another.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a frothy tan head and aromas of pine and very light chocolate. Flavor is a pretty mild mix. The dark malt and piney hops are good, but there is an odd sweetness that is pretty floral (and I’m talking about hibiscus and rose here) that washes things out a bit. Solid, but not great.

Found bottle in family members garage mixed in with budlight and heinken’s what a nice surprise gift. Pours a pretty cafe color and tastes of pine, grapefruit, coffee, and floral. finishes dry and is quite pleasant, thanks random fortune.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy brown head that lingered forever and produced great lacing. The aroma was strong grapefruit, pine and floral hops though was a touch harsh. The flavor was piney and grapefruity with a strong floral middle and was almost gritty with hops. There was alight nutty malt base but this beer was mostly hop forward. The finish was long, dryish and full of floral and piney hops. Moderately full bodied. Nice.
