Opah is a classic West Coast IPA; an amber coloured beer with a comforting malty body and an expressive bitter. The copious amounts of classic and modern American hops deliver a nostalgic citrusy piney punch. It is an ode to the beer our crafty grandparents brewed with so much passion and love and inspired us to try it for ourselves.

Hazy amber with a white head. Citrus aroma with some malty caramel. Bitter taste with a medium to strong bitter finish. Classic example of an old-fashioned West Coast IPA.

330ml can. Minimally milky, redd-ish, dark amber colour with average to huge, thick, dense, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Rather cautious, piney, resinous, grassy, leafy and citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, caramel malty background, hints of lemon, lemon tea, a touch of mandarine, grapefruit, orange. Taste is bitter, grassy, slightly piney and minimally citrusy fruity, zesty, hoppy, caramel malty basis with little residual sweetness and a minimally toasty touch of peanut, hints of lemon, grapefruit; lingering, bitter, minimally chalky, mineral finish. Watery texture, soft, simultaneously dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Starts promising with some nice hop flavours in the nose, fine colour as well, but turns out to be way more bitter than fruity hoppy in taste - overall just average.

Can 330ml (Beerdome)
Copper-pinky colour, steady medium-sized beige head. Pine, caramel and kind of orange fruity aroma. Medium-bodied. Piney, a bit resiny, lots of crystal malts, fruity, vinegummy vibe. A bit odd for West Coast IPA, a bit too much caramel malts.

Good example of a classic ipa. Fairly subdued and rounded feel. Not a lot of hop aroma but has a firm bitterness. Slightly acrid. Kromme haring utrecht

Straight from can at the Sjoelolympics. Floral and resiny, straight up lupulin, some grapefruitpeel fruitiness. Moderate sweet and fairly bitter. Medium body and soft carb. Yay. Like yesteryears.

33cl Blik van De Laat. Amber kleur, witte kraag. Caramel, hars, licht aards, citrus, bittere finish. Lichte body. Had wat voller en plakkeriger gemogen, evengoed bonuspunten voor de nostalgische smaakbeleving.
