Paradox Compass Box is the latest of our whisky cask aged imperial stouts to be released from its smoky, shadowy cocoon.
Our huge stout was aged in Compass Box great King Street barrels for 221 days before bottling.
Full bodied, crashing roasty malt flavours are tempered by a rich chocolate character, balanced with light smoke and an extra layer of orange oil complexity.
Malts: Cara, Carafa, Dark Crystal, Extra Pale, Munich
Hops: Columbus, First Gold, Saaz

Piurs completely black, no head. Aroma is incredibly rich and complex, very sweet, raisins, plums, coffee and chocolate, perfect aroma. Rich whisky, smokey but not over the top. Big body, thick and smooth. Flavour is equally rich and complex, sweet, plums, intense espresso coffee, lot of peat and smoke, caramel. Finishes sweet and heavy, a tad boozy, whisky. Wow! Amazing, clearly best paradox brewdog has made.

Appearance- jet black, completely opaque, a beige foamy head which gradually settles. Aroma- dark chocolate, booze, vanilla, peaty whisky, smoke, rich coffee, leather, burnt treacle, woody earthy malt, dark rum, Christmas pudding. Smells rich. Taste- rich chocolate sauce, roast dark malt, burnt toast, treacle toffee, dark roast coffee, toffee, vanilla sweetness runs throughout, hints of marzipan, candied fruit, cherries, blended raisin, smoky peat, dessert-like sweetness. Oily mouthfeel, sticky finish. Superb.

At a tasting, many thanks, small brown bubbly head, pitch black color, aroma of soy and wood, lots of umami traits and a light smokiness coming through later, flavor of coconut, ash and umami with whiskey hints, quite sweet but blending in really nicely. Excellent.

(An entire) BOTTLE 33 CL. Pitch black, orange head. Rich luscious chocolaty dark malts, molasses, smoky roastiness, rubber? some whisky? The taste is even better - just the right balance of dark malts sweetness, dark fruit - with being sugary or sticky - roasty rubbery slightly cheesy bitterness, warming alcohol and some spirit. Rich yet easy drinking body. Excellent.

Bottle, at SinH4-5K-MoritzF-10K tasting. Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is wood, barrel, coffee and chocolate, some peat and ash, some dark dried fruit. Body is heavy, intense and sweet, with some toffee and caramel and cocoa and chocolate. Low carbonation, oily and spicy. Lingering sweet palate. Good.

Bottle. Pours pitch black. Nose is ash tray, more chocolate than whiskey. Palate is a bit more drinkable than the normal version, but still pretty ashy. Ok.
