Pale Ale

on tap-pours an off white head that laces and gold color. Aroma is medium malt, some earthy hops. Taste is medium malt-caramel, earthy/citrus hops bite.

In the English style. Mild hop flavor and aroma with lightly bitter malt. drinkable enough. Just a little sweetness, with some bread dough.

Bottle on 11/28/2008 in the Great Butters Tasting of 2008. Slightly hazy golden body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet pale malt, light floral hops, and a bit of a sulfury note. Sweet toasty flavor, some light caramel and fruity notes, with a bit of a floral hop finish. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

Bottle. Aroma is light caramel. Light copper color with a minimal white head. Near medium body with coarse carbonation. Flavor is caramel with nearly enough floral hop to balance. Finish is mildly bitter. Somewhat of an over carbonated ESB (over the pond style). Works for me.

Draught at the Lambert St. Louis airport location. Pours a lightly hazed golden-orange color with a thin and dense ivory colored head that stays for a bit. Stringy lacing. The aroma has hints of sweet malt and hops. Medium, smooth body with a straightforward combination of nutty malt, hops and citrus flavors. The finish is on the sweet malty side with a slightly bitter hops aftertaste. Fairly non-descript EPA all around, but very welcome in an airport.

12 oz. bottle, bottled 5/30/07. My shaker glass probably isn’t getting cleaned in the dishwasher; this, like every beer, kicks up a big head when poured. But a nice amber/copper color, thick head with some cling, and a flow of tiny bubbles from the bottom. Nice smell of ale hops. Taste is of a smooth, gentle base pale ale. Light crystal malts, and English hops that settle down right under the back roof of my mouth. Goes well with its low alcohol content to make a nice session beer.

bottle - Pours clear light amber with a two finger head. Caramel malt and light hops comprise the aroma. The flavor is more of the same. It seems like a good, straightforward session beer.

Schlafly Pale Ale 12 oz bottles that someone brought to the New Year’s party and didn’t get to. Bottled with love on 11 03 2009. Pour is a hazed orange amber with a two inch slightly dirty white head. Falls slow with nice lacing. Aroma of mildly sweet floral hops and light toasty malt. Behind the floral and toastiness is somelight citrus peel. Nice balance. Taste is the floral toasty malt of the nose, again nicely balanced. Behind that is the tangerine peel. There is also a bit of a harsh spice thing in the finish which detracts some. Palate is medium to thin bodied, nice active carbonation. The citrus peel makes this crisp and nicely dry in the finish. Easy drinking beer. I am glad I retried this one, I liked it much better this time around. (7,4,6,4,13 - 3.4)

Bottle. Tasted at Schlafly tasting at the Lukas KCMO wine bar. My least favorite of the 6 we tasted. Dirty dishwater taste, with no body at all. (4,3,4,3,10 - 2.4)

Light in aroma (hops), a little more forceful in taste with a slight bitter edge. Medium body is nice. Smooth and refreshiing enough, but nothing special.

Grassy aroma with slight hops. Lacing follows cream head on top of amber body. Taste is a bit odd in that the up front taste is strong of malt and rather pleasant. Then some sort of acrid bitterness (not a pleasant hops bitter) comes through for just a second or two before it turns pleasant again with a nice hops flavor. Not bad, not perfect.
