This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

Bottle....pours black with a dark brown sugar colored head....smells like a spiced wafer!...clove , nutmeg, ginger and especially cinnamon all show through and blend nicely....a creamy mouth feel that keeps the 9% hidden well....its hard to say I even taste beer here...its so much cookie....well balanced & the finish is a little bit of sweet on the lips....as it warms up the ginger and clove shine a little more dominantly...well done!!.....good seasonal!!

Bought at Liquor Shed. Now relabeled as Merry Maker.

Gorgeous looking brew in the glass, pitch black with a 1 finger head of tan foam, nice lacing.

The name fits as far as the smell goes. Ginger Bread! I get some nice roasted malt notes too.

Ginger bread and roasted malt in the taste and I’m starting to dance, lol. Tasty, smooth as all dickens, no sign of the alcohol, did I mention tasty? This is a great brew to drink for the holiday season, I reckon.

I already mentioned how smooth it is so that has the mouthfeel covered.

(bottle) clear very dark brown colour with a medium tall tan head; aroma starts with soy sauce, then roast, dry dust, finally smoked fruit; balanced flavour, a bit on dry side, with spices and minerals, with a long light bitter finish; somewhat thick palate

Opaque black beer with a big tan head. Airy palate with fine carbonation. Quite light. Rich cake flavours here! Ginger cake and Golden Syrup cake! Mild minerals. Just a touch of dark malts in the background. Slight lactose. Not bad at all but couldn’t drink loads.

On tap at the bocktown, nice place. Nice black pour with a choco moose head. Has an alarmingly clovey or gingerbread aroma, makes me nervous about tasting it. My expectations are not unture, the first taste is pice spices fer sure. Yes, gingerbread so strong its like cloves. Nasty nellie. Why put spices in beer I don’t know. Not impressed. Just like most december holiday brews, over spiced and over the top. I’d rather drink a SA cranberry lambic.

Bottle. Pours with a near black hued body with a large and retentive foamy brown head. Aromas show huge gingerbread spices with ginger, nutmeg, clove, anise, chocolate, raisins, and nougat. A little bit woody feeling from the spices. Floral. Flavors are a bit raisiny and chocolate like with a touch of eugenol tongue numbness. Clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and graham cracker. Plums, dark fruit, light chocolate with a medium to low ashy character. Creamy mouthfeel with well hidden alcohol, medium to full bodied. Light cotton candy in the finish. Pretty solid. Slightly reminiscent of Pumpkinator.

22 ounce bottle into snifter; batch 1, bottled in 10/2012. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark khaki with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, gingerbread, toast, dark bread, roasted malt, molasses, toffee, floral, and light roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of spices and dark malt notes. Taste of dark chocolate, toffee, roasted malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, toast, clove, dark bread, molasses, floral, and light roasted earthiness. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, toffee, roasted malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, dark bread, toast, clove, molasses, and light roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance of roasted malt flavors with spices with good complexity; with a nice malt/spice balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced imperial stout! Great balance of dark malt and spice flavors with good complexity; and very smooth to sip on. Really enjoyed this one.
