POurs black with a thick, brown head. Nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, cola aromas. Flavour is cola, chocolate , gingerbread, cloves....baking spices... Creamy-smooth-heavy. Dark chocolate fudge bitter. Barely a hint oif alcohol... Tasty and fun.

bottle - Near black pour, smells of ginger, roast malt, and spices. The flavor is sweet with ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon apparent. It’s full bodied and finishes with roast malt and spice lingering on the palate. Interesting and good.

Bottle from whole foods on really cold night. Pours dark brown with thin head. Nose is of lovely gingerbread. Taste is not overpoweringly gingerbread with just the right amount and it’s not a sugary sweet mess luckily. Ubget nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, chocolate, smoke, and coffee. It’s creamy light booze to finish

Bottle from the Folsom BevMo. Pours a very dark brown with a 2 finger creamy dark tan head. Aroma is dark malt and lots of spice - clove and ginger seem to stand out. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavor is incredibly flavorful. Nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, particularly (in sort of aftertaste) ginger, but there seems to be even more. The spice is so strong I’d go for rosemary, except the evergreen is missing. To borrow from the movie: "Intense is the word" Woof.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Deep opaque brown body, medium clumping tan head. Nose spicy; ginger and nutmeg dominant, also some licorice and cocoa. Spicy body with the same spices noted in the nose; creamy with chocolate, burnt sugars, and alcohol. Pleasant.

Black with a dark, firm head. Aroma is roasted malts, gingerbread, spice, vanilla, biscuits. Medium full body. Spicy ginger, biscuit malts, roasted malts, light chocolate, light cloves. Really enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a brown head. Ginger and light mollasses aroma with rich malt. Toffee and ginger flavor with light spice. Medium bodied. Toffee and ginger lingers with light spice and malt.

Rumor has it, this beer came about after Ed Koch visited Hardywood Park brewing, famous for their Gingerbread Stout, and the similarities are there. 22 ounce bottle from Giant Leesburg. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized dark brown frothy head. Decent head retention. Aroma of ginger, herbal notes, a bit of coconut. The taste is roasted malts, ginger, herbal notes, anise, burnt sugar. Medium bodied. Not as great as the Hardywood, but still a solid beer.

22 oz. bottle. Did a side-by-side comparison with Bison Organic Gingerbread Ale and the SA won. Get way to cap off a night of tasting on 29 Dec 2012. Deep black color in a snifter. Aromas of gingered bread, chocolate malt, cinnamon, and a touch of molasses. Flavor is roasted malt dominant with licorice, ginger snap cookies and molasses. Medium body, soft carbonation with a light silky texture. Some ABV warmth after the sip.Overall, I think this is slightly above average and a nice holiday brew.
