22 ounce bottle. Opague brown, black color topped by a thick bubbly tan head. Aroma or sweet roasted malt, molasses and gingerbread. Rich chewy roasted malt flavor with obvious gingerbread flavor. Molasses, raisins, figs and all the spices are here. Nice to sip this by the fireplace or chiminea. Thick and rich with a nice treacle-like finish. Some resiny hops as well.

Bottle shared by Blipp at tasting at my house. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of ginger, nutmeg, roast chocolate malt, cinnamon cookie, anise and doughy malt. Some flavors intermingle in away that resembles gingerbread - a little bit. Mostly not. Still, good beer. Medium body.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention pancakes and recedes to mottle surface. Nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger aromas. Medium bodied with dark caramel and ginger upfront turning to chocolate and cinnamon in the lasting wintery spice finish.

Deep dark brown coloured, almost completely opaque with a nice, two centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of tons of roasted malt, cherries, caramel, toffee, apples and a bit of nice pungent ginger - very nice. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavour with anise, allspice, cinnamon and tons of ginger of course noticeable with a very full bodied maltiness and a lot of sweetness at the end. Aftertaste is quite deep with the roasted malt and spices really coming out, but the full flavour and the alcohol warmth at the end really help the complexity of the spices. Overall, a very nice beer offered by who - Sam Adams - great to see! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church (Bailey’s Crossroads), Virginia on 17-November-2012 for US$6.49 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 07-December-2012.

On draught at Khoury’s, The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and gingerbread. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, ginger and chocolate. The finish is toasty with a sweetly spiced aftertaste. Above average overall.

22oz bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a dark brown, almost black with about a finger of nut brown head. Aroma is pretty close to a gingerbread cookie. Clove and cinnamon with a good bit of bready yeast. Taste is loads of coffee, clove, nutmeg and bready yeast. I don’t get as much gingerbread here as I did in the aroma. Full bodied with a thick, sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. I’ll be drinking this again over the winter for sure.

Gingerbread, cinnamon nose, some char notes. Coal black, thick lacy brown head. Full bodied, alcohol noticeable. Char initially, weak gingerbread at midpalate, licorice and charcoal finish. Strong without nuance.

Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma was spiced gingerbread notes, touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Some lightly burnt malts. Some earthy hop character came out in this one as well. In a pinch this one is a decent holiday brew, though the Hardywood one we had just prior to this one was hard to beat.

Associated Supermarket, Bushwick growler ($12.99): Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is gingerbread, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste is somewhat sweet throughout. Body is kind of oily. Spices are all over the place in the mouth and don’t give much respite. Dark malts sustain throughout, but the roast most evident in the finish and the afterataste. I was a bit wary of getting a growler of this, but I think that I will manage to finish this whole jawn without too much difficulty.
