Bottle shared in Room 316 of the Tulip, Bodegraven, after day II of Borefts ’13, big thanks to Kenny for dragging this one further east and for his slap bass efforts on his thigh! Clear dark golden amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is caramel malt, hops, bitter grapefruit, orange. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, pine, orange pith, toasted malts. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dry grassy finish with a good dose of hop bitterness. Decent DIPA.

Aroma: It has a nose of fresh/wet hops, some pine, and light oak
Appearance: This beer pours a nice looking, clear copperish color with a bubbly head
Flavor: The flavor is fairly hoppy, with a little sweetness and oak to it as well
Palate: This one has a smooth, clean feel, some oiliness, and a fairly nice drinkability
Overall Impression: I quite enjoyed this one, and my notes indicate that it was even better then I expected I would be.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at a friends house prior to going out for his birthday. Appearance is a cloudy, opaque gold with a prevalent white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of oak, caramel malt, and a bit of honey. Taste leaves kind of a rough taste, hoppy with an abrasive wood flavor, notes of caramel malt as well. I thought it was good, not something I’d usually drink, but good for the special occasion.

On draught at the brewpub, served in a snifter. Pours a hazy copper-orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and oak. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, oak and malt. The finish is hoppy with the oak character remaining. Above average overall.
