Cask at Blind Tiger, NYC. Pours amber with a mild, off-white head. Strong pine and earthy hop aroma with some light citrus. Sweet flavor with some caramel maltiness and hints of vanilla, followed by herbal hops. Medium in body with sof carbonation. Finishes bitter, semi-spicy and fairly sweet. Very good.

Bottle thanks to zdk9. Pours with a tan head that faded quickly over an amber body. Aroma of orange, vanilla, fruit and caramel. Taste is tea, caramel, alcohol, fruit and some faded hops. Light bubbles, creamy.

22 oz. bottle, $7 at Binny’s, Dec. 09. "Oak Foudre Aged." Pours dark amber in my Goose IPA stem, dark brown in the center, with two finger yellowish head. Hop smell is not too heavy, like a cross between pine resin and honey. I can get a bigger noseful if I position myself just right, though. Mmmm. Taste is a big wide paintbrush slapping a hop tea reduction right on my tongue. Plenty of sturdy malts are there, but the main feature is the pile of hops, almost but not exactly masking the alcohol. A studmuffin beer!

Big thanks, as always, to the MCLK. Pours clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is afoul with spicy hops, a dash of earthiness, big grapefruit and orange rind. The taste is smooth and a tad thin with suitable levels of spicy hops, grapefruit hops and a dash of sour to tart orange ring. It seems midway and to the finish a bit of sweet malts and possibly a wood note surfaces amid all the hoppiness.

Nice amber coloured body with a thin tan head and a mellow copper tint - almost no head at all though. Aroma of very strong smelling caramel, toffee, grapefruit, alcohol and oh yeah - a ton of hops! Medium to Full-bodied; Assertive biting hops come out at first, then shows a good dose of malt tucked in with an astringent medicinal and herbal flavour. Aftertaste shows a lot of hop bitterness, some caramel and even some floral tastes from the hops. Overall, a good, albeit strong IPA - definitely an Imperial IPA in my books, due to the weight and the alcoholic strength. Still, a good beer, but perhaps a bit too much - especially in the large format bottle. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Half-Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on Black Friday, 27-November-2009, sampled two days later at home in Washington, at a very fresh state.
