Named after the wild, pristine waters that carve through the high country of Arizona’s White Mountains, Black River Cascadian Dark Ale is a deep, midnight-pour built for the desert adventurer. Like the river’s journey from cool pine forests into rugged canyons, this Cascadian Dark Ale is defined by contrast. Loaded with premium Chinook and Cascade hops from our Southwest neighbors at Billy Goat Hop Farms, it bursts from the glass with aromas of fresh pine needles and bright citrus zest. But don’t let the darkness fool you. A carefully constructed malt bill softens the edges, creating a velvety, remarkably smooth body. Exceptionally balanced from first sip to last, Black River skips the harsh, burnt bitterness often associated with dark beers in favor of a clean, gentle roasty finish that drinks surprisingly crisp.

Pint can pours with a nice dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up woody, some pine and then a thin ring of grapefruit. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of pine hop and grapefruit hop bitterness mingling with dark roasted malts, a bit of charred malts and then chocolate malts. This comes together nicely with tasty depth and balance.
