Black Barrel Series: Immolation 13.5% | Bourbon Barrel-Aged Roast Wine
(Contains nuts)
Immolation is a striking mix of Black Barrel Series imperial stouts and barley wines, crafted from a blend of barrels of different ages. The components have been bourbon barrel-aged for 18 to 20 months before being carefully blended into a single Roast Wine expression.
This fiery ritual brings together two distinct, unyielding blends, each a world of its own, rarely found within the same vessel. Immolation elevates devout craftsmanship at the stake, held in place, where time and barrel impose a slow, unrelenting torment.
An oily viscosity carries the expression, while a subtle hint of vanilla from the barrels ties together roasted nuttiness and the softly creamy sweetness of cashew. Chocolate leans into the roasted malt character, reinforcing its depth and dark structure.
The robust malt backbone gradually softens into a smoother, more rounded profile. A small amount of honey lingers beneath, adding a faint trace of residual warmth within the embers without softening the overall intensity.

Keg at Leskinen, Oulu. Inky. A brown tinge. No head (at least now). Aroma has sweet paraline with a sour vinous edge. Flavourwise there's a boozy bitterness and dark chocolate over nuts praline amd berries. An earthiness... almost smokiness. A lot going on. Thick. Oily. Soft carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. I like. Could clash but gets away with it in my opinion.

(Keg at Haka, 20260725) The beer poured oily and black. Its head was tiny and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, vinous notes, vanilla and ash. Palate was full bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, dark chocolate, vinous notes, lightly alcohols and medium bitterness. Aftertaste had wood, vanilla, ash and bitterness. A tasty burnt brew with strong barrel notes. ABV was rather well hidden.

Opaque colour and medium-sized creamy brownish head. Toasted, woody, vanilla aroma. Medium-bodied. Sweetish toasted malts, wood, bourbon, toffee in the flavour. Somewhat simple but solid. Good.

Keg a Pien Shop.
The beer poured pitch black in color.
Woody and roasty nose. Light boozy. Some nutty notes. Warming, woody, hint of whiskey. Sweet but tolerable. Solid.

Smooth, slightly roasty and malty with some nutty notes, hints of caramel, prunes, oak, vanilla, toffee and syrup. A bit unbalanced but still pretty complex.
