Bottle: Rich, dark brown pour with a medium tanned head and little lacing. Aroma is mostly burnt malt with some coffee and chocolate. Taste is more heavily roasted (pc for burnt) malt, coffee, chocolate, and some bittersweetness in the tail. Good, but it would get a higher rating if the body weren’t so thin.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Thick tan micro head with excellent retention. Deep dark roasted chestnuts, chocolate and coffee aromas. Slightly thin roasted nuts chich thickens to a lasting bitter burnt mocha finish.

Das Bier hat wenig Kohlensäure und wirkt recht wässrig. Mäözeren Aromen regieren hier natürlich, im Nachgeschmack ist ein überaus röstmalziges und ausgeprägt nussiges Aroma zu erkennen. Zudem ist vom Mittelteil an ein leicht herbes Aroma im Hintergrund auszumachen. Der Nachgeschmack kann punkten, der wässrige Mittelteil ist dagagen ein klarer Minuspunkt. Dark clear brown stout with a light moka head. Pleasant chocolate aroma with black coffee notes. In mouth, an interesting choco-malt, with burned toast bitterness, and an oily mouthfeel. A good stout. August 26,2006 at McGregor’s, Henrietta, NY.

12oz bottle-pours a creamy tan head. Color is dark brown with red tint. Aroma is dark malt, licorice. Taste is coffee, dark malt, licorice. Good carbonation. Not my taste, nice though.

Heavy burnt popcorn aroma. Black, with a short but lacing cream colored head. Flavor is more popcorn, coffee, a little chocolate, and minimal dark cherry. Fairly heavy.

This one came in my beer club. I am totally unfamiliar with the brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a dark brown color with a medium sized brown head. The aroma is very strong with roasted malt and has a hint of smoke. The flavor is roasted malt and has a rather strong smoke presence. It was surprisingly dry for an oatmeal stout.

2004 bottle. Large butter colored head on top of a solid black body, with dark chestnut brown highlights, and a small amount of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Aroma could be the crowning achievment of this beer. It’s just a flat out fresh, real oat aroma, with light maple, pecans, roast and butter cream. The oats are delectable to the last drop; aroma wise, that is. As far as the flavor, it is good and oaty, with notes of coffee and heavy roast, but it suffers from too much astringency and oily dryness. Not nearly as much sweet malt as I would prefer, to hold up the body, and a bit too much sharpness. Little to no hops, perky carbonation, medium body. Light chocolate finish.

Dark brown with a creamy brown head. Quite delicious chocolaty coffee flavor on a oat background. Coffe aftertaste Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Medium body. I rather enjoyed this one.
