Swayzie apples are typically enjoyed fresh but at Heeman’s Cellar, we took a different path, crafting a Single Varietal hard cider that showcases the full character of this rare Ontario heritage apple. First grown in the early 1800s near Niagara-on-the-Lake by Isaac Swayze, the Swayzie Pomme Grise is a small, russeted apple once overlooked by industrial growers, yet prized for its high sugar content and distinctive nutty, vanilla-like complexity. Nearly lost to time, this uniquely Canadian apple is one we’re proud to bring back, offering cider lovers a true taste of history in every glass.
