Draft. Looks murky dark brown, but it’s dark and murky in the bar also. Beige head, solid lacing. Aroma of vanilla, whiskey, espresso. Taste is sweet and boozy coffee and wood. A good finishing beer.

On tap at Brouwer's for Big Wood, pours essentially black with virtually no head - tiny tan ring. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt and caramel. Flavour brings out shitloads of bourbon and vanilla - dominates the flavours, subduing whatever else there is. Syrupy, oily palate that lingers on and on. Most delicious slow sipper.

On tap (listed at 10% ABV). Pours with a black body and a medium sized foamy and lasting brown head. Some lace. Good retention. Some legs. Aromas are huge! Nutty, bourbon, maple, spicy, oak, rye, tannins. Very complex. Some fusel, madeira, port, and dark fruit notes. A very refined wood presence, alcohol and fudge. Roast is light and on the chocolate side of things (rather than a harsher coffee profile). Bready, caramel, raisins and esters. No hops nor diacetyl. Flavors are big, rich, woody, tannic and finish dry. Oak: earthy, soil, spicy, rye, vanilla notes. Dry overall, nutty and fudge notes, raisins and a hint of cinnamon. Rich, graham cracker and bitter oak based tannins. Boozy. Very complex. Maple. Huge duration. A bit of higher alcohols and hot fusel. Dry strong oak tannins. Warming. A bit too prickly on the carbonation side (at first). Multidimensional. Seems like Older Viscosity with an extra layer added. Possibly more barrel than that as well. Complex, dry, woody and delicious!
