Kansas City Lager

Like many American burgs, our town was once home to a number of small, regional breweries. As they disappeared, so too went the full-flavored but easy drinking classic American lager. Today, we salute these bygone breweries and revive their legacy with KC Pils: 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. It’s the taste of tradition.

Boulevard Brewing Company is proud to call Kansas City home. KC’s rich brewing heritage inspires us, and local support sustains us. We dedicate this all-malt, real hop, classic American pilsner to you, KC. Cheers!

Pores a clear gold orange from draught. Grass and pulse. Also some bitterness. OK.

Poured into a pilsener glass, the appearance was a semi-hazy golden yellow color with a rising carbonation seen to fill a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Slight lace.
The aroma had a some spicy to semi-earthy hop character up front locating a crisp sweet malt backbone to stand with it nicely.
The flavor bounced well between the slight spicy to earthiness to collide into the malt and apply nicely in the aftertaste and finish.
The palate was light bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, worthy pilsener of coming back to.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan body. Thin non-head. Clean, doughy malt tones. Pleasant mild noble hop balance. Not as bitter or as pronounced character as a German Pils, it more leans into the bready malts. A great session beer. Clean, simple. well done.

Moving out of KS rate-a-poolza. 12oz bottle poured into a Big Eddy globe. Bottled on the 7th day of 2013. Best by 05/07. Purchased out of fridge in store.

I have had this many times in life, bottles, tap, whatever. Its not the pilsner I would usually drink but it is pretty damn cheap. Around town this is priced similarly to Coors Light, 6 packs are 6.99. IO like the price and I see who they are selling to but at the end its a better version of macro beer and that is all.

Nearly clear gold with a small white head. Scent is malt...dough. Taste is softly doughy...grainy. Not so good.

12oz bottle from SI poured into a shaker. Pours a clear gold with a thin ring of bright white head. Aroma of light hops. Taste is light hop bitterness. Crisp and clean. Light bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Overall, it’s ok. Good summer beer, but nothing really special.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 6/2/11

Aroma: The nose is grass, pepper, other spices, and some grainy notes
Appearance: The pour is clear and pale golden with a small white head
Flavor: The flavor is fairly clean, malt front with a lingering bitter finish
Palate: The body is fairly light, not particularly crisp, clean enough, with lingering dryness
Overall Impression: I found this to be a decent pils, but not a exceptional example of the style. Still though, it was solid enough to be drinkable, and it had some flavor. This is one I'd drink again in the right situation.
