Upland Wheat Ale is a classic rendition of the Belgian Witbier (white beer) style. We brew it with organic coriander and orange zest to be light on the tongue and refreshingly tart. In the tradition of the Belgian Wit style, Upland Wheat Ale is unfiltered, allowing suspended starches to create a cloudy, golden appearance. This is an everyday, every meal type of beer. It’s comforting on a cold winter day and refreshing on a hot summer evening. That’s why it’s one of our most popular brews and a flagship beer of our brewery.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of queenholly. Bottled in May 2013. My Allagash chalice show a bright hazy yellow color with thick soapy head. Beautiful look. Nose is bright citrus, mild coriander and yeast. Traditional to the style. Taste is citrus pith, lime, wheaty yeast and some grassy notes. Refreshing and easy to drink on a scorching hot day in New Hampshire. Freshness is key people!

GABF 2012. Multiple tastes. Pours a clear golden appearance with a white head. A bit spicy, lemon/citrusy, mild peppery nose though it’s kind of boring. Pretty decent drinking flavor with light banana, lemon, a touch of yeast, and moderate carbonation.

Refrigerated brown bottle from queenholly poured into a weizen glass. Pour beautiful pale golden with medium size white head. Some lacing, medium body, medium carbonation, and tart lemon aroma. Taste is tart lemon, some banana, some light orange, and a hint of coriander. Nice beer.

Served on draft at the Indianapolis tasting room. Pours a murky straw yellow color with a medium sized white creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of bread, spices and tart wheat notes. The taste is huge spicy notes almost reminiscent of eggnog spice. Some bready notes as well. Medium bodied.

12oz bottle. Cloudy orange-yellow color with a small white head. Mild wheaty aroma, a touch of lemon. This is really a great example of a Belgian Wit. Relatively light bodied, with some pleasant citrus bitterness. Spiced, but not really overbearing, melds perfectly with the vanilla wheat tones. An easy refreshing session beer with lots of mildly bitter hop and spice character. Well done.

Bottle: Pours a light opaque yellow color with a thin white head. Strong aroma of hops and wheat, just a bit of citrus. Lemon perhaps? Crisp and zingy mouthful. Flavors are malts, citrus, a light grassey hops presence, and some wheat. As far as I can remember, this has more character than most wheat ales. Ahhh, the true comes out- it’s a Belgian white...
