Faro Boon is a beer of spontaneous fermentation for which “meertsbier” and old Lambic are blended together. The light brown colour and sour-sweet taste are attained by adding candy sugar before bottling.

250ml bottle. Copper-brown amber colour, foamy white head and aroma of lemon, banana, straw & yeast. Taste is sweet, sugary, with syrup, caramel, tart fruit, wood & straw notes. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, lingering sweet finish. Quite OK.

Bottle from Shirayuki Choujougura’s shop, 498 yen I believe. Served in a champagne flute. I bought this as I was looking for a Faro Lambic for the tick bringing me up to 72 out of 76... 4 more to go! A wonderful clear amber pour with a thin fizzy brown head that disappears leaving a ring of foam around the glass. The aroma is earthy, sour, tart berry like. Very light bodied soft mouthfeel. The taste is caramel or actually more molasses & brown candied sugar very sweet but it also has moments of fruity berry tartness. Quite interesting, I like it but feel it is a tad on the sugary sweet side for me. A nice interesting light beer though for 4%. My first Faro so I have no frame of reference but I will give this style a go again.

Bottle at home, from Beermerchants, last beer of the year II - 31/12/13. Pours golden amber with a moderate off white head that stays for the show. Nose is lemon rind, straw, sweet notes, woody, hay bales, light piss. Taste comprises sugary lemon drink, straw, lightly dank wood, syrup. Medium bodied, moderate light prickly carbonation, sweet cessation. So so Faro, a little too sweet.

Naja... 6/7/7/6/6/6

21.04.2013, 0,33l bottle shared with ClubGonzo & ej @ hotel in Brüssels:
Lett sødmerik lukt med preg av lys malt, korn, karamell, brunt sukker. Sødmerik svakt "syrlig" vørteraktig smak med preg av malt, sukker, korn, karamell, litt sitrus. Middels bitterhet og lengde. Kjedelig søtt klisj.

[10/7/13] Bottle at Nüetnigenoughin Brussels. Clear deep golden-copper. Sugary aroma with light woody notes and a bit of fruitiness. Sweet sugary flavor, fruity, with a faint sourish hint and a light woody hint. Rather light-bodied. Drinkable, but sweet and almost no sourness at all.

Bottle. Pours orange with a small white head. Aroma is a bit "artifical", but still quite nice - with notes of powdersugar and a touch of light balsamico. Tastes like a soft drink (Pommac, Champis?) notes of apples and with a small bitter, alcoholic finish. Low carbonation. Good body for a 4%abv beer.

Bottle. Pours clear brown without a head. Surgery aroma and a hint of tartness. Tastes sweet like Champis/Pommac soda, but with a bigger body. Grapes and oranges.
