Faro Boon is a beer of spontaneous fermentation for which “meertsbier” and old Lambic are blended together. The light brown colour and sour-sweet taste are attained by adding candy sugar before bottling.

Flaska från Saveur Bieré. Smak och doft av övermogna äpplen, äppelmust, våt kartong med toner av körsbär. Fruktig, något syrlig och sträv men alldeles för söt, fin beska.

(Bottle, 0.375 l, at Stadin Panimobaari, 20161013) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sugary sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, malts and low bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A pointless sweet brew.

Bottle thanks to Joe. Pours hazy amber, small off-white head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is candi sugar, apple, light funk. Flavor is medium plus sweet, very light funk on the tongue, candi sugar, apples. Medium body, low carbonation. Not terrible.

At Maakun’s. A bottle pours a dark golden brew with little white head that smells of petting zoo animal poo. Funky funky business. Taste of gumball and concentrated pils syrup, weird doughy flavor of unfermented beer, bit like leaves. Strange herbs. Between sweet and sour. Body medium, fizzy gaz. OK but weird. The masterblend is feeling lucky.

Bottle shared at home. Clear light amber with white head. Wort, massive smell of zoo animal manure, hay, soft funk, brown sugar, apple, light malts and grains, brown bread. Very sweet and light bitter. Over medium bodied with sticky feel. Interesting stuff, but not something I’d want to have again.

Bottle: Dark amber with a thin, off-white ring. Rich caramel and deeply fruity aroma. Taste is the same...sweet and thick.... Not a lot of Faro exposure, so a bit difficult to rate to style...suffice it to say, different by a good margin from other Lambic styles.
