Originating from Austria in 1841, this medium-bodied lager balances rich Vienna and Munich malts with German hops to create a balanced beer. Whoa, nelly, this beer is all over the place. Too bad none of these places are all that enjoyable. Lackadaisical coming out of the can, this beer comes close to resembling macrolagers of mistakes past, yet could possibly smell worse. The nose is awful, with hints of pils malt mixing with mildew and corn. The taste turns things around slightly, but only slightly, kind of like driving out of the way of an oncoming bus and straight into a fire hydrant. Not the worst lager ever, but far, far from good.
