Somersault Ale was designed to be a fun roll around on the tongue while requiring only the minimum of palate gymnastics. In other words, this perfect summer lounge around beer is ridiculously fun and easy to drink. Even though the second Somersault goes down as effortlessly the first, our brewer Grady actually has quite a few remarkable notes at play in the nose, flavor and mouthfeel. There is an opening brace of citrus aroma from Centennial hops, a soft apricot fruitiness tucked into the flavor, a fresh snap from a sliver of ginger root, finished with oats in a long cool mash. Color is blonde with a suggestion of cloudiness. Somersaults all around!

12 ounce bottle. Clear copper, large foamy white head, decent retention. Aroma of tropical, citrus hops, pale malt, hay. The taste is doughy malt, juicy fruits, spicy, citrus, floral hops. Medium bodied, moderate lingering bitterness, high carbonation.

Sample at the taproom. Pours a clear orange-straw color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, grassy hops and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of sweet citrus, herbal hops and toasty malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a hops and slight ginger aftertaste. Decent overall.

Random golden ale. Some sour kind of citrus. Pours amber with OK head. Finish falls off completely. Boring. Tap at Churchkey.

12oz bottle in my hotel room ( Oceanside, California) on 27th May 2015. Poured into a plastic beaker while watching ’shit TV’. Clear golden body, the head a full and lasting white covering. Aroma is loose with a mild fruit hint, the taste is also leaning towards fruity flavours with a malt backbone. Refreshing yet lacking in flavour and depth. I think this is the worst score I have given a ber from these guys at this brewery.
