A special beer from a special collection at the brewery. Brewed annually apparently and I have a 12 oz can from the 2023 vintage that has orange and vanilla flavoring added. The pour is impressive, I see a body that absorbs all the light from the room and still retains its totally black color. The head is a a persistent khaki brown. I lift for a sniff and I can determine chocolate, grain and booze. Now for a drink. I can say right away, this imperial stout is good, quite good. Plenty of dark chocolate to begin with and then whole wheat bread, malt, vanilla as promised, a strong bourbon presence with an accompanying burn and a small candy sweetness. The sensation is thick and viscous. A boozy imperial stout really done well.
