Abita Andygator®, a creature of the swamp, is a unique, high-gravity brew made with pilsner malt, German lager yeast, and German Perle hops. Unlike other high-gravity brews, Andygator® is fermented to a dry finish with a slightly sweet flavor and subtle fruit aroma. Reaching an alcohol strength of 8% by volume, it is a Helles Doppelbock. You might find it goes well with fried foods. It pairs well with just about anything made with crawfish. Some like it with a robust sandwich. Andygator® is also a good aperitif and easily pairs with Gorgonzola and creamy blue cheeses. Because of the high alcohol content, be cautious — sip it for the most enjoyment.

Bottled@Akkurat, Stockholm. Yellowish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is mild maltyness, some bread and mild alcohol. Flavour is bready malts, some slight floral and grassy hops. Hides the ABV rather well, but is at the same time quite watery for being 8 % abv.

Bottle @ Oliver Twist on September 30. Pours golden with a small white head. Smell is malty with butterscotch and plums. Taste is dry and malty with butterscotch dominating the falvour.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 9 Aug 2011) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with tropical fruit, citrus, bread and hints of grass. Malty, fruity taste with notes of tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus and grassy hops in the finish. Medium to full body, with a lingering malt sweetness. Quite nice and tasty.

Clear dark golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, dried fruit and a little alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 080711

Bottle: Clear golden pour with a small off-white head. Nose is grassey, floral, and lightly sweet. Tastes of grass, florals, apple juice, and yeast. Sweet enough to balance the grass and florals, but not overly fruity or estery. Not one of my favorite styles, but this is pretty darn drinkable. Really went well with Chinese takeout.

Kinda tastes like what would happen if St. Ides made a Heller Bock. Sweet, grainy, corny, funky, with an acrid bitterness that tastes more like aspirin than hops, this bottle is only for the stoutest of Abita fans. I need a Tums. (9/11/09)

Pours clear gold into a Sam glass. Bright white conglomerate head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Cookie and nut aromas. Sweet caramel and sour hay collide before the hot, lasting cookie finish. Similar to an Eastern European strong lager.

Bottle, 22oz. A clear, golden beer topped by a small, off-white to light beige head. The aroma has some cooked vegetables as well as pale malts and some hops. Sweet flavor with pale malts, quite fruity. Medium to full body. Fruity finish. It hides the alcohol very well, but I don’t think it’s very succesful as a pale bock. I have to admit pale bock isn’t my favorite style, and this one not being top notch certainly don’t make me crave for more. 110107
